Utterly Beautiful & Sumptuous. Treated myself to a luxury dinner. I was greeted as a valued guest, especially since I was not staying in the hotel. The staff took special care as a solo dinner, so my seating arrangement viewed the Orchestra, for my dining pleasure. We had a lovely dinner at the White Salon restaurant, which while not in the famous New York Café, overlooks it on a balcony, which is a little more quiet and secluded. The food was fantastic (especially the oxtail soup!) though the service was a bit slow at times to refill our water and bread baskets. It is important to note that there is still some spillover noise from the New York Cafe so it’s not an extremely quiet atmosphere. We did reserve seats so we didn’t have to wait. I strongly recommend reserving seats to prevent waiting.
If you are staying at the Anantara New York Palace or an NH Collection hotel, the White Salon is an absolute must! Because it’s exclusive to hotel guests, you enjoy a quiet, high-end atmosphere that stands in stark contrast to the busy crowds below. The restaurant is on the upper floor with a terrace overlooking the entire New York Café. It's an outstanding vantage point for photos! While the New York Café is iconic, the food quality at the White Salon is superb and much more "worth it". My favorite was the Cottage Cheese Dumplings. I never imagined cottage cheese could be such a refined gastronomic experience. Thank you to my server Khouba for this recommendation! For Anantara guests: To make the most of your evening, I highly recommend the 5:15 pm hotel history tour (free for guests). The tour ends perfectly in the lobby for the 6 pm nightly performance, featuring live music and a cocktail show by the Poet Bar team. Afterward, head up to the White Salon to cap off the night. Special shout-outs to: - Tamas (Anantara tour guide) for his incredible knowledge and for following up on all my questions. - Khouba and Flóris at White Salon for excellent service and for taking such wonderful pictures of me. Sitting here instead of at the NY Café is much preferred for a more intimate atmosphere and more upscale treatment. You still enjoy the beautiful décor and the orchestra playing, just in a classier setting. The food is rich and absolutely justifies the epithet of fine dining — it truly is. The cocktails were also very good; I usually get the NY NY here, and I cannot recommend it enough. One of my favourite places in Budapest — I genuinely enjoyed every moment. Maybe the staff could be better, as their English was quite poor.
