Had a fantastic experience at Ruben Étterem in Budapest. We visited for lunch without a reservation, and the place was surprisingly quiet — no crowds, which made the atmosphere very relaxed and enjoyable. The service was outstanding from start to finish: attentive, friendly, and professional without being intrusive. We decided to go all-in on traditional Hungarian cuisine, and it did not disappoint. For starters, we had a rich pâté and a classic goulash — both full of flavor and beautifully prepared. For the main course, we chose duck and grilled Camembert, and both dishes were excellent. The duck was perfectly cooked, and the grilled cheese was a great, slightly indulgent addition. To finish, we had a truly Hungarian dessert — easily one of the highlights of the meal. What really stood out was the balance: high-quality food, calm and cozy atmosphere, great service, and very reasonable prices. Also, it didn’t feel overly touristy, which made the experience even better. Highly recommended if you’re looking for authentic Hungarian food in a more relaxed setting.
The ambiance in this restaurant is very relaxing and looks high class. We ordered the pork tenderloin and the duck and they were both very tasty. Thank you for the friendly staff that night to give us great recommendations!
Very nice restaurant. We ate rabbit and pork knuckle. There was a meat pancake dish for starters that was excellent. Zoli took good care of us. He was friendly and kind. This was our last big meal in Budapest on this trip.
This place was recommended to us. It was really tasty, a lot of choices on the menu, everything seemed delicious. The people were super nice. We recommend this place to taste Hungarian food "Grandma's Style", a little bit on the pricey side, but the quantities were good !
Amazing food and a true hidden gem. Soup smelled so good wife forgot to take a pic. The rabbit was perfectly cooked and full of flavor, the schnitzel was huge and crispy, and the pork knuckle was outstanding. I don’t understand why this place isn’t full — the quality of the food easily rivals much more popular restaurants. The prices are surprisingly lower than at most places, especially considering the quality of the food.
