As a local, I generally try avoid restaurants in tourist-heavy areas. The positive: service was relatively fast with traditional food being enjoyable. What left me extremely with an extreme bad taste in my mouth, was being charged $20 for a basic soda water. This was not bottled water, nor was it anything premium or specialty. To put that into perspective, bottled water on the menu was $6. I genuinely cannot understand how this was thought to be ok. Had I not been hosting a friend from out-of-town I would have questioned the charge on the spot. While I understand that restaurants in tourist districts often charge premium prices and cater to visitors, there should be reasonable limits. Charging $20 for soda water feels excessive. I sincerely hope management reads this review and takes a closer look at this practice, because it significantly overshadowed what was otherwise a happening dining experience. Unfortunately, that charge alone would make me hesitant to return and would lead me to caution others before dining here.
The schnitzel was very good – crispy, well-seasoned and a generous portion. The fries were also tasty and complemented the dish perfectly. The interior is beautifully designed with a modern, industrial vibe, and you immediately feel comfortable and relaxed. It’s definitely a place where you enjoy spending time. The salad was fresh and good as well, but quite expensive for the portion size (over 5000 HUF), which felt a bit disproportionate compared to the rest. Overall, a great spot for schnitzel in Budapest
