Description
This tour includes advance booking of your round-trip train tickets from Budapest to Balatonföldvár, removing any hassle with foreign railway apps. After booking, you supply traveler details (names and birth dates) via a quick form, and you reimburse the ticket cost upon arrival. The direct train journey takes about 1 hour 15 minutes.
Your guide will meet you at Balatonföldvár station, where you board a retro Japanese Kei car minibus featuring a panoramic glass roof that opens fully, providing an open-air experience along the lakeshore.
Before boarding the ferry, the tour visits two lesser-known spots: a secluded lookout with overhead views of the Tihany Peninsula and a private waterfront pier to observe local wildlife.
A ferry crossing takes you across Lake Balaton to the Tihany Peninsula, followed by a 6 km guided hike through volcanic landscapes to the Őrtorony lookout, offering expansive 360-degree views over the lake and surrounding hills.
The tour continues with a stop at the Lavender House Visitor Center to experience the peninsula’s botanical heritage, local products, and lavender ice cream.
Afterwards, enjoy a one-hour free walk through Tihany’s old village and its historic Abbey, with time for photos along the panoramic promenade.
The day concludes with a stop at a beach in Balatonföldvár for swimming and relaxation. Note that a beach entrance fee applies (approximately 1,700 HUF per person). The nearby railway station is an 800-meter walk from the beach, and your pre-booked return train ensures a smooth trip back to Budapest.
