Description
Board a classic Trabant, a small East German car known for its distinctive sound and smoky exhaust, for a unique journey capturing the spirit of ‘existing socialism’. You will be picked up from your accommodation or a central location in Budapest and driven to Memento Park, an open-air museum featuring statues from the communist era.
On the way, your driver-guide will provide commentary about landmarks you pass. Upon arrival, enjoy a hot or cold drink while receiving an introduction to the park’s history and design. The guided tour explains the nature of dictatorships, political indoctrination, and socialist realism, the art style of the period.
The approximately 70-minute tour ends with 30 minutes of free time. Use this to take photos, visit the Most Cheerful Barrack museum, watch excerpts from the training movie The Life of an Agent, or explore exhibitions like Stalin’s Grandstand bunker.
After the visit, return by Trabant to your original pick-up point.
