Description
Escape the city with a one-hour drive north to the Visegrád Hills, a volcanic mountain range with dramatic rocks, rare wildlife, and ancient forests. Watch for black woodpeckers, wildcats, and other animals as you hike.
The 8 km trail passes through shaded beech and oak woodland before entering the gorge, featuring ladders bolted into rock, stream crossings, and 20-30 meter high volcanic walls. The route offers a moderately challenging adventure without technical climbing skills, requiring good balance and reasonable fitness. A natural spring on the trail lets you refill your water bottle.
The overall elevation gain is approximately 300 meters with two steeper sections.
