Description

This tour presents a unique blend of Hungarian spirituality including native shamanism, Christianity, and Hindu influences combined with esoteric teachings. You will visit two significant holy sites near Budapest, gaining insight into contemporary religious practices and Hungary’s cultural past.

The first part involves a walk along the Startrail path to the Church of Pilis, highly rated by visitors. Unlike typical stations of the cross, this path features wooden carvings of key figures from Hungarian history. The guide will discuss topics such as the origins of the Hungarian people, their unique language, and religious changes over the centuries from paganism to Christianity and esoteric beliefs.

You will learn about the only Hungarian monastic order, the Paulians, founded 800 years ago, and explore questions like the current location of the Holy Crown of Hungary.

After this spiritual and cultural experience, you will take a short walk back to the car before driving to the second highest peak of the Pilis mountain range. At the Roger viewpoint, you can see 20 to 40 kilometers on clear days. Then, you will hike the pilgrimage Way of Mary to her statue, visit a stone with runic inscriptions, and pass the Rock of Love and the so-called Heart of Earth rock, a site favored by both esoteric and Christian visitors. The hiking section covers 8 kilometers with around 250 meters of elevation change.

After the hikes, there is an opportunity to visit a local restaurant for traditional Hungarian food before returning to Budapest by car, which takes about 50 to 60 minutes.
