Description
MTK Budapest Football Club, known as the Blues-Whites of Budapest, has won 23 Hungarian League trophies and 12 Hungarian cups, ranking second in Hungarian football history. The club's home, Hidegkuti Nándor Stadium, was rebuilt in 2016 on the site of the original arena used from 1947 to 2014.
The stadium honors Nándor Hidegkuti, legendary forward of MTK Budapest and the Hungarian national team that won silver at the 1954 FIFA World Cup. The opening match of the new stadium was played against Sporting Club de Portugal, recreating the 1964 UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final encounter.
Features of the stadium include a hybrid Desso Grassmaster pitch, advanced LED lighting system with 214 Schreder-Tungsram lights, and 33 luxury boxes across two floors designed for both spectators and business meetings.
