Visit the Cat Museum Budapest to explore local and international artworks dedicated to cats while enjoying a hot drink. The museum combines art appreciation with feline company in a calm setting.
The lower level focuses on 'Cats in the World,' featuring playful reinterpretations of famous paintings with cats, alongside antique and contemporary cat depictions. Upstairs, view a porcelain collection including works by Zsolnay, Herendi, and Hollóházy.
The Jungle Room offers educational exhibits on cat biology and breeds. Interactive features include photo opportunities at the Egyptian Photo Wall with props, a selfie stand, and a Children’s Corner with coloring materials to create cat-inspired art.
Visitors can watch short films and take a tablet quiz about cats. High quiz scores allow selection of a souvenir from the gift shop. Ample time is provided to pet and interact with the museum’s resident cats, understanding that cat activity varies during the day.
Note that cats prefer to nap during daylight hours and their activity or willingness to play cannot be guaranteed. The museum’s adoption program only offers cats to residents of Hungary. Children under 8 are not permitted entry.
