Excellent food, great drinks, and outstanding service! The lamb shank was incredibly tender, the beef was perfectly cooked, and the Gin & Tonic was fantastic. The staff specifically Richard were warm, friendly, and attentive, making the whole experience even better. Highly recommended!
After a couple of nights in Budapest, we can easily say this is the BEST restaurant we went to the whole trip. Both of the dishes (duck leg and Transylvanian lamb) were cooked perfectly, tender and falling off of the bone. The flavor was also amazing. Service was excellent too - very attentive and courteous. The ambiance is nice, a very pleasantly decorated cellar atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Had a fantastic meal here. I wanted to have traditional Hungarian somewhere, and very glad we found this place! Very easy to get to via the tram, very reasonably priced, and Barny provided excellent service. Both me and my partner said the food was delicious! Can't go wrong here
We had a lovely dinner at Ferdinánd Monarchia Étterem. Our server was fantastic — friendly, funny, and impressively multilingual. We heard him effortlessly switching between French and Spanish with other guests, which made the whole atmosphere feel very welcoming and international. The food was delicious, and honestly, everything coming out of the kitchen looked tempting. We tried the Wiener Schnitzel (Figlmüller-style, so made with pork) and the chicken paprikash, and both were excellent. The portions were huge — so generous that we couldn’t finish our plates. A special mention for the decaf coffee with dessert, since finding good decaf isn’t always easy. While ordering drinks and admiring the decor, we quickly realized we had ended up in a Czech-style restaurant — definitely not a complaint. We also tried the Ferdinand light and red beers, and both were really good. Overall, a fantastic experience and absolutely recommended!
I recently visited Ferdinand and had a very positive experience. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, making it perfect for both a relaxed dinner and a special occasion. The service was excellent — the staff were attentive, friendly, and always ready to help with menu recommendations. The food was definitely the highlight: beautifully presented, full of flavor, and made with high-quality ingredients. You can really tell there’s attention to detail in every dish. Another great aspect is the drinks selection, which pairs very well with the menu. Overall, it was a very enjoyable experience, and I will definitely be coming back.
