Beautiful and stylish hotel in a great central location. The interiors are elegant, the rooms are spacious and comfortable, and everything feels well thought out. If you can, choose a room on one of the higher floors facing the W side. We had a lovely view over the rooftops of Budapest, with St. Stephen’s Basilica and the Budapest Eye in the distance. It was especially beautiful after sunset. We also really liked the bathroom amenities from a local Hungarian brand. It was a nice touch and something a bit different from the usual hotel toiletries

Beautiful room, great location, excellent breakfast! Would be all 5 stars but no hot water for shower - found out when I got in - they knew there was hot water issue, but no communication. Their immediate solution is to go to Marriot and use their spa area - not really an option for us. It is supposed to fixed at midnight tonight. Hope so as impossible to not sweat in the heat while walking the city.

My husband and I stayed here, and two other 5-star (not Marriott) hotels, during the week of June 14, 2026, and the Dorothea was so, so lovely. In fact, after leaving the last hotel of the trip I really wished we would have extended our stay at the Dorothea, because our last hotel was not the 5-star quality it was advertised to be, but the Dorotha certainly was! As Bonvoy members we have stayed at many Marriott properties around the world, and I always feel welcome, and that was still the case when we arrived so late to the Doretha. As soon as I walked in and immediately smelled that signature Marriott fragrance I knew I was home! I am obsessed with that scent! I saw it was for sale on the counter, but we were so busy I did not have a chance to buy it, but wished that I had. The staff was so friendly and courteous for our entire stay. We were not part of the cruises or other events, just everyday tourists, and we arrived very late for check-in, but were greeted with hospitality, and offered a wonderful welcome drink that was much needed! Thank you! We did not receive anything like that from the last hotel we were at! Once up at our room I was surprised how large the room and bathroom were! Usually hotel bathrooms are so dark and musty, but this was the first one that I have been in that had floor to ceiling windows which made it so light and bright that it felt luxurious, and not dank in any way. In addition, I much appreciated the black-out curtains and soft robe and slippers, making mornings easier. We also had breakfast downstairs and were warmly greeted each morning by multiple staff members, and enjoyed the large selection of food and beverages each day. I am still thinking about that green juice and Hungarian yogurt! In addition, we had a night cap at Pavilon Restaurant & Bar too, and I appreciate the flexibility and willingness of the bartender who made me a drink that was not on the menu. The automatic doors, the clean flooring, the fragrance, and the decor of the Dorothea made the hotel luxuriously modern, something that our last hotel was greatly lacking. Overall I was pleased with the design, atmosphere, the comfort of the room, as well as the service provided by your team, so much so that I wished we had stayed longer!

My rating is due to one thing only. The service was great, the location is great. I give it 2 stars because of their lacking of cooling. The lobby? Uncomfortably warm. Dining area? Uncomfortably warm. Rooms? Uncomfortably warm. When we called to ask if the thermostats could be lowered (they were locked at 20 Celsius), we were told “that was not possible”. Here’s my issue with that….This hotel is 500 plus USD/night at the lower end of their offerings. There is absolutely no reason they should be operating a hotel this warm in the summer months. And then to tell a paying customer “it’s not possible” is preposterous. I happened to do a little research….though their room thermostats would allow for a 20C setting, the thermostat also allowed for a 3.5degree Celsius swing…meaning that these rooms are essentially set to 75 degrees F. That is uncomfortably warm, especially at night. Add to that frustration, the beds were still topped with winter duvet covers. They were very thick and heavy. Also, there was no real ability to get airflow into the rooms…the windows would only open about 6-8 inches and are recessed into the building. It was just uncomfortable. To their credit they were able to lend us a fan for our stay…but I should then add, it was quite insulting. When they brought us the fan, the gentleman told us that we must bring it back after our stay or there would be a charge. Did he think we were going to STEAL a fan??? This is not a five star experience. While the staff were nice, and the food offerings were great, I will not book here again. I cannot spend that kind of money and be that uncomfortable, when the sole purpose of a hotel is to give you comfortable sleep.

We stayed five days in January and our experience at The Dorothea was exceptional. The room was very comfortable and spacious. Staff and service were outstanding. Our housekeeper in particular was exceptional with details. We did utilize the spa and were very happy with our experiences. Breakfast each morning was actually better than a typical restaurant breakfast ( I frequently travel for work so I have made the rounds for this observation). I would definitely stay here again.
