Description

Escape the city and explore one of Hungary’s most iconic natural and cultural destinations on this full-day hiking tour to Tihany, a historic peninsula on the northern shore of Lake Balaton. Start your journey in the morning from Budapest’s Déli Railway Station, taking a scenic train to Balatonfüred, followed by a short local bus ride to the entrance of the Tihany Peninsula. Begin a moderate panoramic loop hike (approx. 8–10 km) through beautiful trails overlooking the lake, lavender fields (in season), and volcanic hills. Along the way, stop at multiple scenic viewpoints, visit traditional Hungarian lookouts, and take in the sweeping views of Balaton’s turquoise waters. Explore Tihany village and visit the famous Tihany Abbey, perched on a hilltop with one of the best panoramas in Hungary. Your local guide will accompany you throughout the day, sharing the natural, historical, and cultural significance of the region. After a well-deserved coffee or optional lakeside snack, return to Budapest in the early evening.
